Los Angeles imposed a curfew as the anti-ICE chaos escalated to looting businesses.
Rioters have begun demonstrating in more metropolises after the fifth day of anti-immigration enforcement violence and vandalism in Los Angeles. Reports first came out of San Francisco on Tuesday, then footage accompanied reports from Chicago, New York City, and Atlanta. Media outlets have also said that similar gatherings were planned for Boston and Dallas. Many of the demonstrators are wearing keffiyehs to show their support for Palestinians.
Los Angeles imposed a curfew on Tuesday after rioters began looting businesses in addition to the violent attacks on law enforcement and vandalism of property that have been occurring since Saturday. The curfew, announced by Mayor Karen Bass and LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell, is from 8 pm to 6 am for one square mile of the city. The mayor said the curfew is likely to be in place for several days.
President Donald Trump said that the military would remain deployed in Los Angeles “until there’s peace.“
The president said, “I just want to see peace. If there’s peace, we get out. If there’s even a chance of no peace, we stay there until there’s peace, and a lot of people are being arrested. The rioters or whatever you want to call them. They better know a lot of people are being arrested. They’re going to be in jail for a long time.”
